Homemade Ranch

If you’re from the Midwest like us, you know that ranch dressing is superior to all other condiments. Don’t even come at me with ketchup. (I have personal beef with ketchup.) Ranch can go places other condiments cannot. With fries? Of course. On pizza? Why not? Dip for nuggets? The best. Putting it on eggs may be a stretch too far (though, I have put ranch on an egg sandwich and it was top tier), but people who put ketchup on eggs or mac and cheese need our thoughts and prayers anyway. But on a salad? Ketchup could never!

All this to say, most of us love some ranch! But we don’t always love the hidden ingredients in some hidden valley if you catch my drift. But no worries! Once you make this, you won’t go back!

Does it tasted exactly the same as store bought? As with most homemade foods, no. But I personally like this better. The locals may know what Station 66 house made ranch tastes like. This is VERY similar to that! So in other words, it’s GOOD.

This is also so easy! I make this with my homemade yogurt. While I think I said before that I didn’t drain my yogurt, I have started to now, but I don’t drain it when I’m making ranch. Made just as is, the homemade yogurt is a perfect balance of just thick enough without being too thick!

If you don’t make your own yogurt, no worries! You can use greek yogurt with a splash of buttermilk to thin it out!

This recipe is heavy on the dill, so if that’s not your thing, just use a little less. You can put dried or fresh chives in it too! But for the sake of easy, I tried to stick with whatever I personally had in my pantry to make this. My family likes it spicier so we add in some cayenne, but that’s totally optional! Make it how you like it!
